Kayak/Canoe the Canoochee River
Get Away From It All - EZ Guided River Trip
paddle a pristine, uncomplicated stretch
of one of Georgia's last undeveloped
rivers - the Canoochee River, near
Claxton Georgia in Evans County, near
Savannah Georgia.
Bring your kayak, or rent a fancy new canoe
from the Ogeechee/Canoochee Riverkeeper,
and enjoy the cypress trees, spanish moss,
blue herons, wood ducks, river otters, and
other flora/fauna of the south. This is a
"blackwater river," which is a rare and
amazing type of water to experience.
Guided Trip, bring your own boat: $40.00
Guided Trip, rent a boat: $65.00
Seven miles of beginner-level paddling will
take approximately 4 hours to complete.
Put-in at 9:30am, paddle, then have lunch.
A brown-bag lunch will be provided, but
feel free to bring your own treats as well
as your camera for this lovely, relaxing trip.
Leave Atlanta at 6:00am and carpool
down to Claxton, and will return in ATL by 7:00pm.
