GENERAL INFORMATION:
You will need to pay for your round-trip airline ticket from Atlanta (or if you're coming from somewhere else) to Guatemala City. (As of Thursday, January 14th, Delta non-stop round-trip tickets are $375)
Then you will need to raise donations, approximately $1150 by March 3, 2010. These donations (a portion or possibly all) are tax-deductible. You will also be able to create your own webpage via Habitat that friends, family and co-workers can go directly to and make a donation.
The "donation" amount covers room, board, transportation in Guatemala, building supplies and a "donation" amount to the Guatemala Habitat. If you raise more than than your required donation amount, the excess amount will be donated to our host country's house-building efforts. So the more you raise, the better for our Host country.
You shouldn't need any more money unless you wish to buy personal souvenirs or extras, drinks or local foods/snacks. Also, if we plan any group activities, such as a boat tour on Lake Atitlan.
There are only 12 spots available. I might be able to add more if there is interest.
I have been on two different International Habitat for Humanity builds in the Philippines and India and they were AMAZING experiences! If you like spending your vacation time getting dirty and sweaty, helping out other people, and making a difference in their lives, your lives and your co-volunteer lives... this is the trip for you!
For those that are serious about this trip, please email me some background information about yourself. Tell me a little about yourself, why you want to do a Habitat project, have you traveled internationally (don't worry if you haven't), if you speak Spanish (don't worry if you don't but it would be great if you do) and if you have a valid passport (if you don't, do kinda worry... as you need to get one of those ASAP).
Please email by ASAP as I need to choose a team as quickly as possible as we will be heading out in just 3 short months. And you still need to raise your donations which could be between $1400 and $1800 and purchase your round-trip airfare.

Make sure I have your personal email as well.
Also, I have arranged an additional 8-day trip through Guatemala for those that are interested after our Habitat build. Here is the link for that. There is an additional cost for that as it is a separate trip.
For more information on the Global Village program go here.
Thanks! I am very excited about this trip.

If any of you have a +1, I will also need your +1 to email me as well. Thanks. We have over 40 folks interested in this trip.
Hey John, do you mind if I create a link over to this trip from my Atlanta-REACH-Out page?
Jen, so glad to see you're joining!!! You're even ahead of me w/the application... I'd like to stay longer after the build, but don't think work would survive w/o me.
Fill out your online applications ASAP so you can get your Habitat number. You'll need that to create your donation page so you can start collecting, if not already collecting.
Yuliana, You can donate via the link above and for the shoes and Raggedy Anne dolls, you need to contact Habitat for Humanity at 1-800-422-4828
