Eat Organic 2010!!!

This location is shown only to members

2010 is the year for changing the way we eat and thinking about what we are putting in our bodies. As STL members we have the ability through a local company, Destiny Organics, to start our own "Sky's the Limit" CSA (community supported agriculture), where members can purchase organic produce, dairy, meat, etc. at reduced costs. With as little as 20 members, we can use our buying power as a group to get the best organic ingredients at great prices. We will have a detailed discussion about everything the CSA entails, the benefits and how to sign up.

We would also like to you to join us for an evening viewing of the excellent and eye opening documentary "Food Inc."

How much do we really know about the food we buy at our local supermarkets and serve to our families?
In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment.

Please bring a healthy snack to share, we will also be providing drinks and some snacks!!

Hope to see you there!!!

We have changed the venue to an apartment community clubhouse in order to accomodate everybody! The clubhouse is located in the Centennial Ridge Apartment Community in Roswell, GA. From GA 400, take exit 7A/ Holcomb Bridge Rd. Continue on Holcomb Bridge for 2 miles. Centennial Ridge is on your left at 100 Calibre Creek Pkwy. Please pull through the gates (They should be left up for this event) and continue straight past the leasing office until you see the "club" on your right hand side. Parking is right in front of clubhouse.

We have imposed a $2.50 charge in order to help pay for the clubhouse, so we don't have to split the group!!!

The movie was great - very eye opening! Unfortunately, we had a lot of people back out at the last minute, but that didn't stop me from enjoying some healthy snacks and learning about how great a CSA can be. I really hope we can get it started!!! Thanks to those who showed up :)

Very eye-opening, even though I already knew a lot about how our food supply is really screwed up. Looking forward to the organic food co-op thing being set up.
