The warm days of summer are almost over. Need one more time to cool off??
Ravens Cliff Falls are a wonder to behold, and the hike in is almost equally as stunning. The path begins as a wide road near the junction of Dodd and Bear Den Creek. The first 100 yards of the path is essentially a service road for these spots. It will take about 3 hours to hike in and back out, but you will have a wonderful, rewarding touch of wilderness.
The trail closely follows Dodd Creek up to the falls. On the path several additional waterfalls add to the pleasure of this trek. After the first waterfall a change in the trees is obvious. The forest is dominated by hardwoods. Short cascades and riplets of whitewater produce a relaxing gurgle during a significant portion of the hike. "
It's very secluded and not commercialized at all. There are 3 waterfalls all together. The hike is pretty moderate until the end, you have to climb a little ways to get to the final waterfall. But it's so worth it. At the bottom of that waterfall is a pool where we can swim so bring your bathing suits!
Dogs are allowed on this hike. Bring snacks or a light lunch and lots of water.
I am considering finding a campsite stay for the night. Bring let me know if you are interested. If so, you will need more gear like a tent and other camping stuff.Directions to the trail:
Go through Helen
Turn L on 75 south Alternate (Pink tubing sign on the left)
Go about 2.3 miles and turn R onto Richard B. Russell Hwy (Hwy 348)
Go about 2.8 miles and turn L into the parking lot for Raven Cliff Falls trail
Carpooling for everyone is probably a good idea for this one.
